African lions

Together with elephants are lions the best known African wild animal and people from all over the world are coming to
Tanzania to see these fantastic creatures in their own habitat.
The lion is the tallest living species in the cat family. The lions are very social animals and they are living in groups up to 15 - 20 individuals - most females, their young and about two territorial males.
However - the population in the wild is challenged do to human expanding and need for space for agriculture, settlements and roads. The lion population in Africa has dropped with 42% to a critical level in just two decades.
